Manager’s Musing- Tasting Room

A night of Friday music on the lawn!

Looking at the calendar today I realized it’s May! Oh, how the time fly’s by. We had many events in the party room this winter. We had all our dinners (Friendsgiving, Bacchus Christmas, 2 Harry Potter, Valentine’s, and Italian) we hosted vow renewals, birthday parties, wedding showers, rehearsal dinners and so much more. November through April are the slow months at the winery. So we are gearing up for Summer. Last Summer was a roller coaster. We had one of the best blues festivals ever selling double then we had ever done in the past. Then two weeks later a storm of 125 mph winds rolled through and caused major damages. We had post broken and downed, steel ripped off our front porch, columns cracked half way, patio furniture twisted in a way only mother nature can perform. The most visible was our gazebo. It was gone. It was a pile of splinter and steel directly behind where it had stood. That was the worst of the summer, but we were also affected by the beetles and hail. Grape production was down. 2017 seemed to be testing the strength of Soaring Wings. The new amphitheater is bigger and better with more lighting, plug-ins and more coverage from storms. Just like one of our more popular wines (Red Phoenix) we rose from the ashes! In 2018 we will have more events and more chances for you to come enjoy our space. We can’t wait to see you at the winery!

Cheers,

Kellie
