Winemaker’s Musings – December, 2020

The grapes are in and the wine is made! I (Nicole) have taken over the day-to-day winemaking operations while Jim has become “winemaker emeritus” if you will. But when he isn’t flying, you will probably see him still bustling around the winery.

We had a very large harvest last year, and this year the pendulum has swung back the other way. We ended up having a minimal crop this year, but that seems to have been the case for all vineyards in the region. But don’t worry! We still have plenty of wine for you all to enjoy.

Our sweet wines, which are finished first, are almost ready to go into bottle and then a short time later will be available in the winery and on store shelves! Our dry reds have made it to their barrels for a few month’s rest before those will be getting bottled early next year.

In terms of exciting things on the horizon to look out for, we have also bottled some Sparkling Taminette! It has been quite a few years since we have made any, but we are excited to bring that back to you all. It is currently undergoing it’s secondary fermentation in the bottles to become the bubbly we know it will be in several months, but that is still a ways out. In the meantime, we have our Sparkling Brianna on tap in the winery to tie you over.

I hope you all are having a safe, warm, and happy holidays!
